      Urban Habitats were commissioned with a brief that we jointly refined to suit an increasingly fragmented market driven mainly by younger retirees.

      As the retirement market has evolved and as baby boomers are now on the cusp of retiring the desire for choice and quality at affordable prices are at the forefront of retirees decision criteria.

      With this in mind Urban Habitats and Touchstone have jointly designed and built a gated retirement village at Enfield in South Australia.

      Modern light filled homes offer generous room sizes in particular bedrooms, plenty of storage, ducted reverse cycle air-conditioning, stone bench tops and quality appliances. Wet areas are not only functional but have a modern contemporary feel.

      Feature stone walling and detailed planning was given to the courtyard gardens, which have been landscaped to offer a quality finish to the overall development.

      Working in a local heritage conservation zone had caused planning challenges for the client and Urban Habitats were able to come in and provide assistance and clarify a way forward with the project. The duplex development is located on land long under-utilised and the finished product has added significantly to the street scape and local amenity with a classic contemporary interpretation of attached maisonette homes. With natural stone facade, solid masonry construction of face brick and polished concrete floor these homes are built with strength and to last and the zincalume finish roof is in keeping with the heritage feel of the area. The internal fit out and cabinetry is again a contemporary style, with 2 pac paint, veneer panels and stone tops complimenting the tile selections and extent to continue the contemporary feel along with the paint selections both inside and out. The cedar windows and doors are another feature throughout, and specifically the French-door facade, finish off the warm feel in these current but classic homes.

    • This medium-density development in the north-eastern corner of Norwood mixes contemporary style with heritage cues to excellent effect.

I recently commissioned Urban Habitats to construct a 13 Home Gated Community on a turnkey basis. Their upfront effort prior to my commitment made all the difference in them winning the job with a very clear understanding for both parties of the scope and cost of the job.

The job ran in advance of the program with the only cost variation being a minor one a result of me making some decision to vary finishes at the last minute.

They communicated very effectively with me during the job and kept me constantly informed of site progress and of trade progress so much so that they completely exceeded my expectations and completed the job 3 months ahead of schedule.

Their trades were well managed and the whole of the job was kept tidy enabling me to present it to prospective home buyers during the build phase.

Their knowledge of the issues that need to managed during a build and their professional handling of the construction process including handover as well as their willingness to ensure trades came back after residents had moved in to fine tune the "little things" made my experience a very positive one.

I would not hesitate to recommend Urban Habitats in fact having now developed over 50 houses in the last 5 years all of varying grades I would strongly suggest anyone considering construction consult Urban Habitats as a benchmark in honesty and integrity.
