This radically designed extension and renovation project brought together some terrific architectural and interior design detailing that proved both challenging and rewarding to realize over the course of the build.

The 9 month construction resulted in a stunning modern family home which perfectly suits the needs of the clients, a large young family.

The original part of the home received limited structural revision, with relocation of wet areas comprising the bulk of work in this part of the project. The perimeter walls of an earlier extension were all that remained after the demolition at the rear of the home, with significant steel framing constructed within this area to support the upper level extension. The large zinc-clad square-form second level provides both excellent living space internally as well as a striking architectural features externally, particularly the huge external north-facing louvre system and frame. Cabinetry and tiling selections and execution are particularly impressive, contributing to a home that is both striking in appearance but practical and warm to the occupiers.

“Urban Habitats were brilliant. The whole process from initial planning through to completion was well organised and well executed. We found it very easy to communicate with the team and certainly felt that they were on our side at all times. We would highly recommend them to others considering building or renovating.”
