Gordon Residence.
A charming 1910 villa, has undergone a thoughtful reconfiguration and the addition of a new upper storey to accommodate the growing needs of a young family.
The prioritising of maximising space, functionality, and natural light while retaining the character of the original house, especially from the street frontage, helps preserve the home’s historic appeal while enhancing its liveability.
A new upper level provides additional bedrooms, a dedicated bathroom, and a much-needed breakout space in the form of a rumpus room, enhancing the family’s living experience.
A small room was repurposed to create space for a new pantry, offering ample storage to complement the updated kitchen. The layout of the kitchen is designed for improved flow and functional storage solutions, with a new servery window and door providing direct access to the outdoor entertaining area.
Living and Dining spaces have been opened up to invite views of the swimming pool. The living and dining areas provides a sense of openness, while the inclusion of a custom timber cavity sliding door provides privacy when desired.
The entertaining spaces are designed to lead effortlessly to outdoor areas, promoting both relaxation and entertainment. The servery window and door enhance this connection, allowing for easy interaction with the outdoors.
The home has been rejuvenated with modern finishes, clean lines, and a continuity of neutral earthy colour tones throughout. Carefully selected materials further enhance the tranquil and inviting atmosphere of the home.
This renovation successfully balances the preservation of the villa’s original charm with the practical needs of a contemporary family, creating a functional and serene living environment.
