The Leabrook House.

The stunning façade and natural finish grey rammed-earth wall provide a bold statement to the street front.

“After meeting with a few other design and build teams we were instantly impressed with Jock and the team at Urban Habitats. Not only was the build quality important, but the development of a trusting relationship based on open and honest communication was equally as important. This was very easy to foster with the Urban Habitats team.

It’s not infrequent for us to come home and have people peering over the front fence or taking photos and complimenting us on how amazing the place looks. The house does look amazing, it functions perfectly and is now everything we dreamed our home would be.”

– Urban Habitats Client, The Leabrook House

Urban Habitats provided a dramatic concept for this residence to accommodate a young family which addressed key parameters of engaging with landscaping from internal aspects of the house, the separation of three key accommodation areas and integration of a large lap pool and large gym into the layout.

The Leabrook project is a striking custom new build created from the initial brief from our clients together with Urban Habitats’ philosophy of designing to maximise the client’s enjoyment of the simplicities of everyday living, with Urban Habitats providing a full Design & Construct service.

The original property was determined to be demolished, together with the existing swimming pool, to make way for a prominent contemporary two storey-home, with deliberate delineation of master, guest and children’s accommodation as well as a number of separate living spaces and most critically, the intentional relation of internal and external living areas centered around the striking pool and pool house. The design process shows striking attention to detail combined with a mix of natural of materials such as rammed-earth walling, both smooth face and rough sawn cedar cladding and raw cement render finish. Internally, spotted gum flooring, exposed steel staircase, glass walling details and natural stone throughout complete a modern classic material selection.

Complementing the build is the resort style hardscaping of tennis court, pool and pool house, cricket net, children’s playground area including cubby house, and the landscaping including a dedicated fire pit seating area. The home and surrounds provide for numerous areas to live and play, with a great feel to the continuity across the whole property, both inside and out.
